The Surroundings

The Jagdschloss Kotelow lies in the heart of Mecklenburg-Strelitz near the nature protection area »Galenbecker See« and the »Stettiner Haff«. Parts of this region come under the nature protection programme of the EU. The Galenbecker See belongs to the most important wetlands of Central Europe. Rare birds like cranes and grey herons nest here and endangered floral species like the Violet Sitter and the Liverleaf thrive in the marsh area. Wild animals like otters and badgers are proof of this widely intact environment too. A special attraction in autumn is the possibility of watching the deer in their rutting season.
